There are still different point of views on the dependence of fossil fuels and how and what people could do to help this problem of global warming. The first point of view to this problem is that people use oil today for almost anything. The most common use according to the EPA is transportation and home heating purposes and the only way to change this is for cleaner energy. The other point of view is since we use oil for many plastics or even to make a couch. “life with out oil? Impossible!” (“Oil Can Do More,” 2014).
Since the first point is to use much cleaner sources of energy to replace the use of fossil fuels this could work. what is argued that if we keep using fossil fuels we will run out and pollute the world. cleaner energy sources like solar and wind power energy could help decrease the use of fossil fuels and are a long lasting energy source. an example were clean energy is being used is in Europe were they have to reach a certain amount of cleaner fuel usage. in march of 2007 European Union made a certain amount of percentage the countries have to reach. the have to reduce 20% of all greenhouse gases and 20% of energy efficiency(“The 2020 climate and energy package”, 2014, May 5)) there are 3 European countries that have meet there decrease of greenhouse gases and increase fuel efficiency. These countries are Sweden, Estonia, and Bulgaria (Kahn, B. (2014). 3 EU Countries Have Already Hit Their 2020 Renewable Energy Goals — You’ll Never Guess Them)
The other points of view is that fossil fuels are still very valuable and we should not switch to completely only on solar, wind and any other type of renewable resource. some of the most important fossil fuels are coal and oil. oil is the most valued in the world because it has many uses. oil can be use to make plastics that are used everyday. you need to drive your car to place to place with out it will be more difficult to travel long distances like getting to work or school if its to far. this is why oil is still one of the most valuable fossil fuels. also a suggestion is that instead of changing energy sources is we should just make fossil fuels cleaner. for example burning coal releases many pollutants but there cleaner ways to burn them for example to use scrubbers to help prevent sulfur from escaping using a type of limestone (“How do you make coal cleaner?”,2013, February 12).
