What social justice means to me is when everybody is treated the same way no matter what you do, what you believe, or the color of someone skin is. My understanding has changed over time on what social justice is. I always thought that the words social justice was a racial thing but it is more than that. Social justice means that we should all be treated as equals but in this world it’s not like that. People judge others by many things not just by race. People today are still being judged on what faith they want to believe in, who they can love, what they wear and what social class people come from. This serves as an inequality and it’s not right just to let others assume things about people.
Social justice is not something that can be achieved in a day. It will require many years but that does not mean we should not take the first steps into achieving equality for all. Today there are many obstacles that prevent social justice. Stereotypes are big obstacles that can greatly impact on how one sees you. Although there are both positive and negative stereotypes of peoples culture around the world it does not mean they are true but people will still believe.
People struggle towards social justice because people need to know what goal they want to achieve.
How I imagine myself in a role in social justice is to inform others about how they can use better energy alternatives and maybe it could also save them money.
My issue connects to social justice because in some places around the world people cannot afford fuel or electricity that comes from power plants that burn fossil fuels. If we are able to better alternatives of energy sources it could help with the global warming problem that impacts all people. Solar panels could be used in countries in were people don’t have access to electrical power plants. This is just one example of how much cleaner alternatives can do.
